My iPhone was acting crazy, so like any self-respecting, time-appreciating, person who by all means did not want to make a visit to the Apple Store’s “Genius” Bar, I thought I’d quickly do a factory reset and add back my apps manually, because something wanky was happening from my iCloud backup.
And what should have taken 30 minutes tops, pushed me into an endless spiral of Google searches, and scheduling of an urgent visit 2-days later to one of the Apple stores on the Northside. And it was all due to the incredibly cryptic error: “iPhone cannot be restored … an unknown error occurred”.
The solution: my iPhone to computer cable. By simply using my old iPhone cable, instead of the newly purchased cable, pulled out of the plastic wrap merely moments before the restore, everything worked flawlessly. I don’t even know what possessed me to try the old cable, but it ended 2 hours of frustration that would have made my six-year-old look at me with disapproval.
I hope no one out there in the “interwebs” ever has this issue.
